Pizza Luce Management is looking for a Staff Accountant - Inventory Specialist with an outgoing personality, who enjoys working in an environment with a variety of job duties and is constantly motivated to build upon their knowledge and acquire skills.

This position plays a critical role in managing the accounting-related functions related to food sales, the cost of goods sold, and the inventory of food and alcohol at Pizza Lucé.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the Accounting and Inventory Management Software (Restaurant R365) is set up accurately and executed successfully, and is responsible for training users of our inventory system and developing written training documentation. This position will report to the Finance Manager and will support and work directly with the Executive Chef.

Functions and responsibilities:

  • Inventory Control System Management
    • Oversee systems and processes within the inventory and margin-related functions.
    • Restaurant 365 administrators and power user
    • Perform key functions in monthly and periodic closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for COGS
    • Item and Recipe Validation and Set-Up
    • Inventory Software Database Maintenance - gather, validate, and enter Inventory Item product information into Restaurant 365
    • Continuously identify and recommend process and system improvements
    • Inventory Procedure and Software Training - train Pizza Lucé managers on proper inventory control, outlining best practices and Restaurant 365 basics
  • Sales Tracking and Ongoing Reporting
    • Item Sales Reporting
    • Review, analyze and report inventory performance
    • Ongoing sales reporting to Management
    • Create store-level sales reports - present to Kitchen Managers
    • Integral in Menu Pricing
  • Cost of Good Sold Management
    • Theoretical Cost structure and reporting
    • Food and Beverage Costs Audits - regularly audit food and liquor costs to find areas of opportunity for cost savings
    • Food Cost Analysis - Review and communicate food cost target variances and related issues with store managers and P.L. Management
  • Accounts Payable and Finance
    • Review, edit and approve all inventory-related and other accounts payable invoices
    • Set up and maintain vendor files and systems
    • Reconcile vendor statements
    • Payroll Back Up
    • Daily Sales Reconciliation Support
    • Filing and Systems Maintenance
  • All other projects and duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of accounting and/or inventory management experience, preferably in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, retail or beverage distribution setting
  • Extensive knowledge of restaurant inventory systems and procedures. Experience with Restaurant 365 or Compeat preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the Google Suite of applications
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to do public speaking and presentation experience in a variety of group settings. Strong training skills. Able to develop complete training materials for use by Pizza Lucé management and staff. Able to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to travel and visit all of our 9 restaurants in the Twin Cities and Duluth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four-year degree preferred or commensurate experience
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations and restaurant cost controls.
  • High volume restaurant management experience is a plus
  • Excellent time management skills. Must be self-motivated with the ability to deliver results and meet deadlines
  • Creative and innovative and very knowledgeable about changing hospitality and market trends
